Google Drive FTP: How to Connect and Transfer Files Easily[^3^]

After looking through the page, you may find the best solution to use Google Drive as FTP server. If you need to connect Google Drive to FTP for file transfer, we recommend you the easy-to-use software - CBackup and you can try its other powerful features for free as well.

What about running the google-drive-ftp-adapter application in your local pc and then connect your filezilla client to that application? The google-drive-ftp-adapter application is not an online service, but its an alternative solution to connect to google drive through ftp.

How to Use Google Drive as FTP Server Free

The google-drive-ftp-adapter is an open source application hosted in github and it is a kind of standalone ftp-server java application that connects to your google drive in behalf of you, acting as a bridge (or adapter) between your ftp client and the google drive service. Once you have running the google-drive-ftp adapter, you can connect your preferred FTP client to the google-drive-ftp-adapter ftp server in your localhost (or wherever the app is running, like in a remote machine) to manage your files.

With google-drive-ftp-adapter I have been able to access the My Drive area of Google Drive with the FileZilla FTP client. However, I have not been able to access the Shared with me area.

This tutorial explains how to use Google Drive as FTP to upload, download files. I will talk about a free and open source Google Drive adapter that you can run on your PC and upload files to Google Drive through that. After accessing Google Drive via FTP client, you can easily read and write files in the same way you do for other FTP servers. Basically, this Google Drive FTP adapter, google-drive-ftp-adapter behaves as a bridge between your PC and Google Drive. After authenticating it with Google Account, you can start using it to transfer files from your PC via FTP protocol.

google-drive-ftp-adapter is a simple Java application that runs in background and gives you FTP credentials. You can use those credentials in any FTP client software you use and then access contents of your drive. This Google Drive adapter translates all the FTP commands and then performs corresponding actions in your connected Google Drive. You can upload new files, download files from Drive, rename files, and even delete files from Drive. And all you have to do is just run a simple JAR file and go through Google verification process to give this tool permission to access content in your Google Drive.

I'm trying to set up FTP access to my Google Drive, and I've found some questions like this one saying that you can create an FTP server locally using google-drive-ftp-adaptor, but this isn't what I want. I'm looking for something like or some other way to host my Google Drive globally without creating my own intermediate server.

If what you're looking for is to allow anyone to FTP directly to Google's servers, or to do a simple one-click solution on the web somewhere, then the answer is no, that is not currently possible. The best way to do it is to use rclone as @RulonRock mentioned, or to use google-drive-ftp-adaptor per the answer you linked. However, both of these solutions will only allow users on the computer running rclone or google-drive-ftp-adaptor to access your drive via FTP by without additional configuration.

If you want to set up FTP access to a Google Drive without needing to configure rclone for every single user's computer, you will need to set up a server with a static IP address to run rclone serve ftp gdrive: and then configure that server to allow FTP access to your drive from the internet. The way to do this varies based on where your server is hosted, the server's operating system, and how you want to secure FTP access to the drive.

Welcome! Rclone is the way to go regarding this. I personally use it daily (not for ftp, but in a similar fashion) and it would be able to handle this without issues. The Rclone website is very helpful, and if you are able to use any command line, you should be able to set it up. In a simplified explanation, your are setting up google drive as your "remote", and then using the Rclone serve command to start a local FTP server which then you can port forward if desired. Below I have linked pages regarding Google Drive and FTP.

Here is an example of the command to crate an ftp server that is in a folder titled "Homework" inside the root directory of your drive.(not tested and would need to be changed for your specific setup)

Well, the easiest option would be to use a desktop FTP client like Cyberduck (supports Mac & Windows, free) or Transmit (Mac only, paid). These software applications can connect to all the popular cloud storage services including Google Drive, OneDrive, Dropbox and Amazon S3. They can perform a remote-to-remote sync allowing you to recursively transfer files and folders from the FTP server to any cloud service and vice versa.

Enter Microsoft Flow, an online automation service that lets you create automated workflows similar to Zapier and IFTTT. The free plan lets you create unlimited workflows and each workflow would run every 15 minutes. And it is the only service in town that can simultaneously talk to Google Drive, OneDrive, Dropbox and FTP /SFTP servers.

The correct way using google drive with ANY website is to have G-Suit account and point an Google website (Only available in G-Suite since last Aug, 31 2017) as a sub domain in your website. This way you will increase your score by hosting static content in CDN.

as you know that google offers Google photos service for free with unlimited storage, so what I think about is to store my images into google photos instead of having them on my host.since I have shared hosting this method will decrease the load on my server.

When you need a secure offsite backup, you can back up Google Drive files to similar cloud drive services. You would rely on Google Drive but saving them to another Drive to keep it more organized is a better idea. One of the best ways to do so is by using a remote FTP server. However, backing up Google Drive to a remote FTP server is difficult. It does not have much free storage, so looking for an alternative is the best.

Therefore, you can back up Google Drive to Other Cloud drives (the best one: EaseUS Cloud Drive) and transfer it to the FTP server. Here's why EaseUS Todo Backup Home is the perfect fit for it:

Designed for professionals, this alternative to FileZilla offers an efficient dual-panel tabbed interface and the ability to customize colors, layout, keyboard shortcuts, and mouse actions (going beyond what FileZilla offers). Multi Commander enables you to quickly browse your archives, local hard drives, network servers, Windows Registry, and more.

It is not without reason that FileZilla is the most popular FTP application on the market. The open source software is free of charge and available for Windows 7 and beyond, Linux, and macOS. As soon as a connection is established, data is then ready to be easily exchanged between client and server via a drag-and-drop feature. FileZilla also supports large data transfers (over 4 GB) and is also able to resume terminated file transfers. Users can set up upload and download speeds themselves and the server manager function allows the used FTP server, including access information, to be saved. With FileZilla, users have the option of encrypting the FTP via SSL/TLS or SSH. FileZilla at a glance:

WISE-FTP is a paid FTP program for Windows operating systems (XP or higher), which can be tested free of charge for 30 days before purchase without any restrictions. The software supports all common protocols like FTP, SFTP, FTPS or FTPES and thus allows the connection to any FTP server. Thanks to the integrated task planner, the upload and download of files can be completely automated with WISE-FTP: Users only have to define the target server and when and how often a certain task should be executed. Both authentication and file transfer are subject to maximum security thanks to the SFTP or FTPS protocol. In addition, the data can be encrypted via Rijndael, BlowFish or TripleDES. The features of the FTP client at a glance:

Storing the files on Google drive is more manageable and accessible than FTP. Thus, if you intend to transfer files from FTP to Google Drive, you shouldn't shy away from taking the services of MultCloud. It is a terrific free cloud file manager that simplifies transferring FTP files to Google.

Hi! There are certainly many platforms for hosting content in the cloud. However, Google Drive is one of the most popular. Indeed, there we can store files of all kinds. It is even possible to create backups, have documents available to open and edit from anywhere, or share them between devices. In this post, we will see a program that extends the possibilities of Google Drive. Specifically, it is google-drive-ftp-adapter. This add-on allows you to use Google Drive as an FTP server. 2ff7e9595c
